The Grocery pack is built around the two numbers that decide whether a food shop makes money: how fast the queue moves, and how much you throw away.
How the day actually runs
- 1Scan at the till — barcode scanning is on by default, and the queue never waits for a page load.
- 2Perishables carry an expiry date and a batch number, so first-expired stock goes out first.
- 3Storage temperature is a field on the product: pick a band — Ambient, Chilled, Frozen or Custom — and record the actual range yourself. The example ranges in the app are examples, edited to match your own food-safety rules; they are not guidance from us.
- 4Country of origin and pack size sit with the product, for labelling and for the questions customers ask.
- 5Loyalty is on by default in this pack, so a regular basket is attributable to a regular customer.
- 6The end-of-day report is a query against your own database — it does not wait for anything to upload.

What this pack does not do
- AlphaTill does not drive a weighing scale directly. A weight-priced product is flagged as sold by weight and the quantity is entered at the till.
- Expiry tracking is a switch you turn on per product, not something the app infers from a category. That is deliberate — a wrong expiry date is worse than none — but it does mean the first pass over your catalogue is manual work.
- There is no supplier EDI ordering. Purchase orders and supplier records are in AlphaTill; sending them is email, WhatsApp or a phone call.
And the part that has nothing to do with your trade
Whichever pack you pick, the database is on your computer: if our website or servers go down, your point of sale keeps working. You can keep trading through an internet outage, because selling, printing and inventory run against the database on your own machine. What does need us: activating AlphaTill on a new device, buying or changing a plan, and the customer portal.
