Install it
- 1Download the Windows installer from the download page. The version, file size and SHA-256 are printed there.
- 2Run the installer. It installs for the current user and does not require a domain admin.
- 3Launch AlphaTill. On first launch it starts its local database and opens the setup wizard — see first-run setup.
- 4Every Professional feature is unlocked for the 14-day trial. No card, no account required to start.
Windows will warn you. Here is why, and what to check.
Our installer is not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC” and hides the Run button behind More info. That warning means “this publisher has not bought a certificate”, not “this file is malicious” — and we would rather explain it than pretend it does not happen.
Until that certificate is in place, the published checksum is the real integrity check. Open Command Prompt in your Downloads folder and run:
certutil -hashfile AlphaTill-Setup.exe SHA256Compare the result with the SHA-256 shown on the download page. If the two strings match, the file is byte-for-byte the one we published. If they do not, delete it and download again.
Do not skip this on a shop till. A checksum takes ten seconds and is the only thing that distinguishes our installer from a copy someone re-hosted.
Where your data lives
AlphaTill stores everything in a local database on that PC. It is not uploaded, and the app does not need our servers to sell, print or count stock. Set up backups before you rely on it — a local database is only as safe as its copies.
